After nearly 40 years working in Information Technology in Higher Education at the Universities of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Liverpool I am now leaving the latter for new pastures at the end of this month. I say that because I am not planning to “retire” just yet!
It has been, and still is a great sector to work in because of the people and their dedication to achieve so much with so little. Things have changed somewhat from those days of taking a set of punched cards down to the ‘cafeteria’ as it was called here at Liverpool. I found a few mint ones in the bottom of my drawer along with the minutes of a staff meeting about academic staff letting their children run riot and power off equipment in the data centres!
If anyone wants to follow what I am up to from now on, or indeed make use of my expertise, then you can stay in touch here.
